On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of BledCom, the international symposium on research in public relations, which this year focuses on sustainability, Marketing Magazine spoke to Herman's partner Dr Dejan Verčič, one of the initiators of BledCom, about the past and future of the communications profession.
Today's business environment is full of challenges, but the concept of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) is increasingly coming to the fore. This concept is critical to sustainable business, but with it comes a series of new regulations that can make production more expensive and complicate business operations.
In an interview with Marketing magazine, Dr Dejan Verčič, Partner at Herman, shares his views on these regulations and the potential negative consequences of excessive normalization. His main concern is that company employees who have to adapt quickly to new regulations could become frustrated. "I fear that the opposite effect will occur - instead of employees being happy to initiate change, they may even start to resist it," warns Dr Verčič.
In addition to the challenges of ESG, Dr Verčič also touched on the role of artificial intelligence and questioned how competitive Europeans are in the race to develop it.
